Water polo’s 13-2 win over Corona del Mar takes them to CIF finals

Water polo’s 13-2 win over the Corona del Mar Sea Kings tonight in the CIF Semifinals means they will be heading back to the William Woollet Aquatic Center in Irvine Saturday at 5:30 p.m. for the CIF Finals.

Johnny Hooper ’15 led the team with four goals and Ben Hallock ’16 and Evan Rosenfeld ’17 were close behind with three goals apiece.

The Wolverines took the upper hand in the game immediately after Rosenfeld capped the team’s first possession with a score. Although the Sea Kings countered with a goal, they were unable to score again until the fourth quarter.

Goalie Anthony Ridgely ’15 let in only two goals and played a big part in the Wolverines’ win.

The undefeated Wolverines will face arch-rival Mater Dei in the CIF-SS Championship game.

“We feel good and are happy to be able to get another chance at a ring,” Felix Broyzna-Viliam ’17 said.
