The girls’ soccer team defeated the Notre Dame Knights 3-0 Jan. 28 on Ted Slavin Field to extend its spotless league record to 5-0 and its overall record to a very respectable 11-2-1.
Courtney O’Brien ’15 and Quinn Frankel ’16 scored the first two goals of the game, while Courtney Corrin ’16 had a particularly amazing run up the right side of the field followed by a cross to Paige Howard ’17 for the third goal, according to left midfielder Montana Reilly ’16.
“We played very well as a team, with three different players contributing for goals,” Reilly said. “And [we] scored all of them in the first half so we could sit back and control the possession in the second. Notre Dame was our hardest game so far in league when we played them the first time, so we were very happy with our performance.”
Finishing off a successful week that began with a Saturday 3-1 away league victory over Flintridge Sacred Heart High School, followed by last night’s home victory, the girls will play the Marymount High School Sailors, whom they already defeated 3-0 on the road Jan. 9, Jan. 30 at home at 5:15 p.m.
The Wolverines will have two more league games: a matchup on the road Feb. 2 against Chaminade, whom they beat 3-0 two weeks ago, followed by a home match Feb. 11 against FSHA. The final game of the team’s season will be a non-league away game Feb. 14 at Valencia High School against the Tigers.
So far, the girls are in great shape to make the playoffs at the end of the season.
