Football falls to 0-2 in Mission League play

The Wolverines’ Senior Night loss to St. Paul by a score of 31-23 was not what the team had hoped for following last weeks loss in its Mission League opener against Serra, but an injury to their starting quarterback could prove much more significant.

Marshal Cohen ’16, who led the Wolverines to a 4-0 start and what players described as one of the best starts in school history, returned from the team’s halftime meeting the the locker room in street clothes and on crutches, after appearing to injure his left knee early in the second quarter.

Albert Choi ’15 replaced Cohen after the injury, but was called for intentional grounding in his own end zone, resulting in a safety, leading coach Scot Ruggles to choose to play Ryan Dominick ’17 at quarterback for the second half.

Ryan Dominick lead two touchdown drives in the team’s comeback attempt, one of which culminated in him keeping it himself for a touchdown, but the team’s efforts fell short as an interception with 44 seconds remaining clinched the game for St. Paul.

The team’s next matchup is on the road against St. Francis on Oct. 25.
